Moodboard & Conceptualization
This phase serves as the start of my creative process, dedicated to generating useable ideas based on a framework of visual themes and mechanical utilities. My objective was to create something both visually appealing, and functional. During this process, I visualized a collection called NOMAD. This would focus on a post-apocalyptic world where mankind is left to wander, and those who are able to survive and innovate are those who are able to combine their mobility with utility. Hence, I got the idea to construct a lightweight vest that could also be transformed into a utility bag.
Design & Construction
From there, the construction took a bit of an unorthodox turn. Seeing how the design was very difficult to understand 2-D, I decided to drape the design, which was also my first time draping! This was essential to understanding how the bag would sit on the body when it was a vest, and understanding how and where to place zippers to close the bag. I added an additional external pocket due to the fact that the main compartment functioned as a tote with limited organization.

This prototype was completely constructed from donated and discarded materials.
Execution & Presentation
Finally, I constructed an additional garment to complement the main vest. This was done with a pair of Kith Columbus Destroyed Denim to serve as the base, and a thrifted military jacket to patch holes with the camouflage fabric. This in combination with the boots solidified the NOMAD theme by giving it a more combat and desert feel.

Overall, with this being my first technical experience in Fashion, I am very happy with how the prototype was executed!  I plan to iterate on this design until I create a blueprint for reconstruction.
